…Being stood up by someone you are meeting for the first time via a crappy text message…Sucks!!!
With today’s technology it is so easy for people to not interact in the most active way. You can meet people online, text and email someone to get to know them, webcam…whatever. But has it left people handicapped when meeting others in person? I say yes. I remember someone telling me a story about the night they got stood up via text…
A friend of mine met this guy online via a popular free listing network. They had been talking on and off for sometime via email and text. The fellow was much younger than my friend and after much back and forth banter she told me that he was okay with that. I mean I know her well enough to know that she sure as crap wasn’t going to proceed with anything. She is not aggressive in that way. So I am thinking, hummm, he started it and she is just going to go along with it. Well she tells me that after some time they had decided to meet and go out for a movie. I am thinking, that is great, she needs to go do something with her life. Well, no keep up with me here…She has never even spoken to this guy, not yet anyway…Until an hour before the time they agreed to meet. I am freaking thrilled for her, the conversation was really short and informative. I was like what the crap. She said that he tells her to text him with the info. What is it with the texting thing? Personally I do have friends that I text via my computer. I have no problem with that, but these are friends that have jobs that they can’t be on the phone all the time or whatever and these are friends I know, not some dude I met online..chya… I am like this is so super sketchy. I just let her keep that happy grin on her face because I was not going to burst her bubble. So like she was going to be super nicey nice and pay for everything. Yeah, not . I mean not that I am a penniless date monger, but come on…Let the guy pay, not matter how young an ass he is…Yeah…Wait, just keep up… So she says that she gets to the theater, gets the tickets with her coupons, yeah coupons and then waits. She says she texted him to let him know what the deal was and then she gets back a text saying for her to leave him alone…I AM SORRY BUT…FU*K **U!!! The thing is she went to see a scary movie and I have to give it to her..she did not cry, or so she says, but instead she just got up and watched the movie. Now how pathetic is that. I mean really…Why can’t people just pick up the phone and talk to one another like they used to. What the crap!
