A new take on season six of the great series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
“No,” Buffy disagreed. “True’s on our side.”
“I’m not disagreeing with you, Buffy,” Angel pleaded. “I’m just saying that whatever True has planned…is something he hasn’t exactly shared with us yet.”
“No way,” Buffy said. She moved closer to him. She walked different, but that familiar presence still made him feel comfortable, at home. Her voice, soft and nothing less than reassuring. “He’s a friend.”
“Buffy,” Angel said coming closer to her and taking her hand. “You don’t really know True…”
“You don’t believe me?” Buffy said looking at Angel not disappointed, but worried that he wouldn’t understand. He has to understand, she thought, you’ve always known me better than anyone else, even myself.
“No, it’s not that,” Angel melted as he watched the sweetest face he ever knew sadden because of his words.
“I’ll prove it to you,” Buffy smiled realizing that she could show Angel instead of just telling him. “True.”
Buffy stood there waiting for a moment, then called out the demon-vamps name again.
“You calling him?” Angel asked. “He isn’t gonna just come.”
“Is someone going to explain to me why we want him to come?” Cordelia’s face showed the obvious concern that not only she, but her companions felt as well. “Cause I’m not really digging the idea of being violently thrown across the room right now. Maybe we can wait until later. How about the day after never, maybe?”
“True!” Buffy called out as the AI crew looked on, skeptical.
They waited a few minutes and when nothing happened, Buffy looked at Spike and poked him in the arm. Reluctantly, Spike called out True’s name, but to no avail. Several minutes passed without a word from the ancient vampire or anyone else for that matter. Buffy looked around the living room and waited and waited. Her bottom lip began to tremble when she said; “he’s not coming.” The tears built up in her eyes as she proclaimed, “fine! Don’t come! But, don’t come popping in to see this baby whenever you want.” Buffy closed her eyes, put her head down and rested it on the chest in front of her. When she put her head on a bare chest, she looked up to see True standing in front of her. “I hate it when you do that.”
