A lot of people see that the line for the Drive-through is long so they simply go in to place their order, but most of the time (Depending on what time of the day) it would be a lot faster to go through the drive-through. The reason this is faster is simply because the managers realise that people would take the time to come in and order have the time to wait longer then those who just want to the food and go.
