Message Barred

The new SMS norm by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India may not all be for the good

THe Telecom Regulatory Authority of Inda (Trai) has put a stop on pesky messages from telemarketers by limiting the number of Smses to just 100 a day.

But does that make yu a winner?

Son far, the silence has been comforting, THose annoying, impersonal, marketing messages that filled the inbod of you celphone have suddelnly stopped. But the downfall has been the freedom to send unlimited messages. All customers cannow send only 100 messages per SIM. Wheather the new regulation is a boom or a bane is a tough call. As per Trai’s ” THe Telecom Commercial Communications” Customer Preference Regulations” which came into effect from 27 September  2011. The limit for prepaid and postpaid customers is 100 SMS per day and 3000 SMS per month, respectively, This perticular step is among tje ,amu trao jas [it om the Place to save the customer from unsolicited commercial calls and messages.

But considering customer requirements,Trai has exempted telecom service proviers sending electronic recharge messages, e ticketing agenciew responding to customer request social networking site sites such as Facebook Twitter, and Linkedin, and directory servieces such as Justdial and ASKme,among others form the rule.

This catagory may be update from time to time according to the regulator.

The reaction from the customer are varied, through.

Pinky a house wife from Varansi feels that it does meddle with her personal rights as a consumer. If it is about commercial message then deal with them but don’t penalise the rest of the consumer. There are many consumer who still use SMS as main form of communication as it is cheap, mostly free, and very effective even from a call.

While another user suppoorted the new reforms as his inbox is not cluttering with junk mail anymore.

The new regulation whould have adverse affect with people with special need like deaf and dumb who could have used the unlimited sms for a good reason.

For people who use bulk SMS as work tool, like public relations professionals, event organisor and stock brockers the new regulation has a bad impact on them.

Customer who need more then the current limit would have to switch the sim or use Blackberry application BBM,Iphone Imessage, or other populer Android one like whats app, KIK and so on,

Trai has been able to put a stop to bulk SMSes, but marketers are now tagetting email inboxes instead,With Yahoo and Hotmail allready ready to fight spam introducing Sweep temporary email address this surely dampen their appetite. But for other’s who would Bell the Cat now.

To get the public rid of pesky mass message, Trai implemented ‘ the telcom commercial communication customer prefernce regulation, form 27 sep limiting only 100 SMS per SIM per day.

For postpaid The limit is 3000 sms per month One way or other it’s the same anyway

No more unlimited SmS the one you have would’n t be renewed after expiry and already can’t send more then 100 allready

E ticket,Sns like Facebook etc,Subscribed Sms and erecharge message is exempted.
