Just a few days to go before the general election, and it’s getting almost unbearable. Can my fellow voters really be on the point of electing a Conservative government? A Conservative government under David Cameron? What a monumentally depressing thought! How very sad that a country with an obvious left-liberal majority could be about to be governed by those whose clear desire is to favour the super-rich at the expense of the rest of us, how hard to credit that anyone could have forgotten the grinding pain of the Thatcher and Major years, and how pitiful that we could let David Cameron get away with pretending that he is not every inch the continuation of the Conservative party of those wretched times, and the intervening loopy years under the guidance of Hague, Duncan-Smith and Howard.  Are the voters (and non-voters) of Britain really that self-harming? I really, really hope not…
