We are all freaks. There is no denying it. We all do something that people find weird. Guy talking on the phone too much. He is a freak hands down. So why are we thinking we are better than some?
The next day, today, my friend invited me and two of her good gal pals to lunch and to catch up on the how everyone was doing thus far in the quarter. As we met in our usual place, the study room a.k.a. my friend’s mum’s office, we departed to head on over to the campus food court. On the way, one of my friends decided to point out this guy who was in front of us and said flat out that he was such a freak. Then we went inside to eat lunch and talk about things like: classes, social life, new boyfriends, old boyfriends, and so on. As we finished our lunch, we were leaving when another one of my friends started to talk about how she had a friend who could bend his fingers all the way back and so forth.
As all this conversation came up about freaks I couldn’t help but wonder if Carrie Bradshaw in the episode “Freak Show” was right about “Are all men freaks?” However, I soon found out that women too have their own contributions to making them freaks. Therefore, the question doesn’t become All men are freaks but Are we all freaks?
In addition, this then leads me to start a new definition defining freaks or displaying a freakish personality. I call it Freakism. Freakism is when people are drawn to freaks or they themselves display freakish behavior (behavior that people define weird). Be advised that this can include people who feel like they have to use their cell phone excessively. More so, make sure that you don’t judge people as freaks because who knows, you yourself may display some sort of freakism.
