Outsiders view.

                                            From an outsiders view
An outsider is a person that does not fit in, for either racial, religious beliefs or many other reasons.
In the movie The Karate Kid, Dre Parker is a very popular person in a neighborhood in Detroit, but he and his mum move to Beijing. As he arrives, he develops crush on a neighbourhood girl called Mei Ying. However the bullies seemingly pick on Dre because of he is trying to impress Mei and he is different. At school, he is picked on Cheng and his gang and he cannot fight back because he does not know any kung fu. The next day, Cheng and his gang chase Dre through the streets of Beijing and corner him, but Mr Han the maintenance man fends off the bullies. They both go to Cheng’s teacher to talk to him about his way of teaching his students. Cheng’s teacher challenges Dre to a tournament.

Mr Han then tells Dre that he is going to teach Kung Fu to him, but he ends up doing a repeat of “Putting on his jacket, taking it off, putting it on the ground, picking it up again, putting it on the coat hanger” over and over again. After a few days of doing this, Dre gets frustrated because he keeps doing a useless drill over and over again for hours. Mr Han reveals that the movements were Kung Fu actions and Dre could perform them due to muscle memory. When Dre enters the tournament, he surprisingly beats everyone but an opponent breaks his leg. Mr Han uses his technique of fire cupping to quickly heal him and he is in the grand final with Cheng. He beats Cheng and wins the respect of the bullies.

This shows that people that are different in some way, aren’t necessarily inferior to others. Dre is a 12 year old kid American who has never had any history of kung fu beats extremely skilled asian opponents.
