What did we pass on?

Generations lost

We citizens of the world that are in our fifties and sixties need to reflect on a few things. We look at the younger generations and ask, what happened? They have no scruples no respect, no self control, they just don’t seem to really care about anything. How did this happen?

When we were growing up our parents worked, cooked cleaned house, did their own repairs, read the paper, took us to church, and welcomed new neighbors, made sure that we went to school. We knew that they would be there in a pinch, always had our back, and helped us to become all that we could be.

When our kids were growing up, we were protesting everything, destroying our own cities, banning prayer from schools, making spanking illegal, building fences and walls against our neighbors. We let congress legislate our fighting forces out of the care and compensations that they should have received for mental and physical injuries. We were too busy discoing and being cool to attend PTA or community meetings. We made boarding & disciplinary schools popular. We admonished our children with inappropriate words in public places and took them to McDonalds or jack in the box as peace offerings. We try to push them into professions that will put us onto easy street. Just to name a few.

So what do the forty and fifty year olds that we spawned have to pass on to their young? Avoidance, disrespect, insecurity, communication deficits, dishonor, a mysterious and distant God & very little hope.

And the twenty and thirty year olds, what do they know? The internet answers all questions, condoms make open sex ok–they even come in flavors, with Viagra a man can be a super hero. You can lift your face, melt away your fat, if the baby cries too much take him to a shrink, eat organic food & take fifty supplements ten inch gold trimmed fingernails are more important than paying the light bill & on & on.

We boomers need to turn around and fill in some the gaps we missed while we were being free spirits and getting down.

Don’t get me wrong, many Boomers have done well and became outstanding parents and assets to the world. On the other hand, an alarming number of our age group gave in and dropped out of what was real and left gapping holes in the fabric of growth for future generations

Very sad outlook on the world of today but don’t worry things are going to change, we all have to evolve and stop being so spoiled and selfish.

Change can happen…we must start with ourselves…then one heart and one mind and one person at a time.

It’s very true. Therefore each one of us should take responsibility for the future of humanity.
