My thoughts on global warming; I would encourage every one to watch the “11th hour” hosted by Leonardo Di’caprio as well.

Earth the blue planet, I live here and enjoy all the things she has to give me. I make a conscious effort to destroy the very planet that shelters me.

Now wait a minute, why bother? I am not a keeper of this Earth. It’s ok if I let a little smoke out of my old car. I want a nice wardrobe made of teak wood, its ok if one tree is felled in the rain forest, the wardrobe will be a legacy to my grand children. I need to have a refreshing cold drink when I come home on a hot sunny day, I cannot give up my fridge. I need to keep the garbage out of my house; I guess it’s ok if it put it on the roadside as long as it doesn’t affect the aesthetic beauty of my home. Its up to the dogs to scatter the polythene bags all across the street. I am paying the tax let the municipal van come and collect it.

How can you blame me, I feel I m not a cause for global warming. How can my car smoke and the fridge be the reason for the glacier melting at the poles? Is my wardrobe responsible for the rains to fail in the fields?

I have got some things I can blame the system for the global warming other than myself, what about the dams, don’t they displace people, don’t they submerge the trees, ruin the wild habitat, destroy the ecological chain. What about wars, the mission to space that punctures a hole in the ozone layer.

What if, mother Earth is just fed up with us and wants to start a fresh, with people who care. What about my legacy? Who is to be blamed is it I or we?
