Modern cartoons are not so cartoons anymore…
Yesterday, i joined to my little brother while he was watching a cartoon on Tv. It was ‘BenTen’ he was watching. Monsters, fighting, shouting, flaming and monsters again. ‘Wow’ i said to myself. I remember the cartoons of my time (1990-2000) and those were much more suitable for kids and more artistic.
Then, i decided to search for the videos of some of my childhood cartoons. Once again, i thought ‘Kids these days don’t watch cartoons, they watch animated mature movies.’ Now i will point out some of my favorite childhood cartoons, i am sure you know and like them if your age is close to me.
Life with Louie

This cartoon tells the story of Louie Anderson’s childhood. He has a crazy father and a kind-hearted mother, also has dozens of siblings. Released by Fox TV and featured 39 episodes. The cartoon had a great sense of humor, inter-family relationships and funny situations. From the eyes of a 8-year old kid we watched Anderson family and their neighbors.
The cartoon awarded a lot of time and nominated to many awards. Unfortunately, it has lasted only 3 seasons and never continued.
Bobby’s World

Bobby, the youngest member of Generic Family. The cartoon was filled with Bobby’s imagination and his interaction with his parents. His dad Howard was a funny man who were making mistakes. His mother was the one who controlled the family’s order. His elder siblings were naughty teenagers. But the most important one was his uncle Ted. Perhaps the cartoon’s funny side was completed by Uncle Ted’s goofiness and jokes.
This cartoon was great for the children, it was educative as Bobby was doing mistakes and repaying it afterwards. For example; at one episode he lies and his sister gets the punishment. Then his lie gets exposed and he feels ashamed. He tries to repay his mistake.
Unfortunately, this show lasted for 8 seasons, and ended in 1998.
Popeye

Perhaps kids loved spinach thanks to Popeye the sailor man. The cartoon was filled with heroism and always winning goods. Popeye loves Olive Oyl, but Bluto loves her too. At the beginning, Bluto beats Popeye and takes Olive Oyl, but Popeye eats some spinach and ‘here he comes!’. Every episode was using this synopsis, but with totally different themes.
Popeye was not only a cartoon. It has many comic books and tv shows as well.
Winnie the Pooh

Cute, friendly and naive animals living in a magical forest. This show is a must have for the kids. No violence, no villains and no flaming. All cute animal friends and their cute adventures.
The characters are Winnie, Piglet, Tigger and Ivor. Winnie is a honey lover bear and nothing can stop him from obtaining his honey. Piglet is a coward little friend of Winnie. Tigger is the craziest animal in the forest, jumping jumping and jumping around. Ivor is a lazy donkey, speaks slowly, walks slowly and looks with pale eyes constantly.
Fortunately, Winnie the Pooh returns to theatres in this year with a cartoon titled ‘Winnie the Pooh’.
