Sometimes we say the darnedest things…

No offense”.

There’s a beauty. A phrase that means the opposite of what the words do.

Think about it…

A guaranteed offense has been committed, or is about to be when these words are uttered.

The words are the offender’s way of making YOU ready or responsible for BEING offended, and washing hands of it by requesting that you NOT take offense to the offensive.

If you feel sensitive, hurt or attacked, it’s YOUR problem, pal, because you were warned not to be.

How about just being honest and saying, “Here comes a whopper. It may hurt you, but I cannot help myself”?

That feels more respectful and responsible……. no offense.

Phrases like this are passed down for years. Our capacity to hold on to the senseless is unlimited.

Hoping that my writing finds the right eyse and spreads like wildfire!
