Some unexpected things just pop for some good reasons.

Some unexpected things just pop for some good reasons. I happened to have a chat with a high school crush. She sent me first a message asking if I play cityville in Facebook. I replied no because I really don’t play any game in Facebook. It was a simple introduction that popped and opened to the recollection of our experiences during high school days.

Telling her about my crush on her was such an easy maneuver to my surprise. I felt relentless to tell her at first but when I finally hit the enter key, she took it nothing but part of a childish memoir. She made me remember a lot of happy and from today’s perspective, unusual events we happened to experience together.

We went to the same school. It is 2 towns away or almost 1-hour via jeepney travel away from our town. We used to ride back home the jeepney named “Wonderful”. For unknown reasons, Wonderful sometimes won’t show up. There was one time when we gave up hope it would come because it was getting dark already. So we decided to go home on foot. There were more than 10 of us waiting hopelessly for that last trip. As high spirited teens as we were, even with at least 5 books in our backpack we all walked along the high way. We would also play once in a while even if our feet would sometimes complain. And we would lay down the asphalt road to rest. Being hit by a passing vehicle was somehow out of topic because of its scarcity in our province during those times. Some residents we would pass by even thought we were having parade because we were so noisy cheering and making chants.

The farthest we had ever walked was until Solong-on, San Juan, almost 20 kilometers away from our school. Somehow we were lucky enough to hitch for a cargo dump truck. I thought I had never had those experiences before because I had never ever mentioned it to my current friends. But when my high school crush reminded me of the incident, it came to me like vivid scenes. We rode on the bucket of the dump truck and it was too dusty. Though we arrived home late and with dust-powdered faces, at least we didn’t walk all the way. It would be equivalent to hiking half of the 102-kilometer coastline of the whole island.

I could even not help myself but laugh about it. I had never thought I had such a terrible yet wonderful experience. I knew it would never happen again in the future. Lesson learned: chill sometimes but chatting with old friends. Some good things happen when you least expect it.
