This is my very first Grinds My Gears webisode about the lady with the sad story to tell. Enjoy!

Do you want to know what really Grinds my Gears? Train Scammers! They act like they are so in need of food and 90% of the people on the train are crack heads, alcoholics, and people too lazy to actually want to go out and get a job.

I was caught by a train scammer. I was on my way to the city to check Manhattan to shop.  So here I am on the 2 train listening to my music when I saw this woman come on the train with a cup in her hand. I paused my music just to see what she was saying and she says “If everyone could just hear me out and listen for a few seconds, I would truly appreciate it. I am 31 years old and I am in need of shelter, I have nowhere to go and I am very hungry. If you could find it in your heart to give any change that you have, I would truly appreciate it.” She started walking around with her cup out and people were giving her change so I pulled out five dollars and gave it to her. A much younger lady gives her some change and some falls on the floor. The ‘poor’ women goes to pick up the change and crack rocks falls out of her pocket!!! She quickly grabs the crack and continues collecting the change off the floor.

In my mind I am saying  “ok I just gave her five dollars so she could go feed herself but crack just fell out her pocket so who knows what’s the money she’s collecting is going to spent on. I approached her asked for my five dollars back. She explaing how grateful she is for it and tells me I am such a blessing. I said “I saw IT fall out of your pocket. She looked at me and started yelling at me so I expressed to her that what she is doing to support her habbit is wrong.  Then she started looking around yelling “where is my crack” so I backed up. Now people are looking at her in shock. She must have forgotten that it was in her hand because she went to check her pockets and the crack fell out of her hand! She picked it up off of the floor and ran to the next cart pushing everyone in her reach.

I still to this day will never understand what was wrong with her but all I know is #Crackiswack.

*Hope you think twice about where the money you give to a stranger is going. Thank you for reading and look out for the rest of my Grinds my Gears webisodes.

I once had a similar experience, approached on a train by a lady with a photo of a little girl pleading for money. I refused because things were tight. The look I got really made me feel down, she appeared to be so broken by my refusal that I nearly hunted her down on the train to give her a few bucks I couldn’t afford. Anyways when the train stopped I saw the lady meet up with a fella on a platform that was so smacked off his head he could barely stand, she gave him all the money she collected. I almost went over and told her thank god I gave you naught, but I didn’t. A valuable lesson learned.

A few weeks later, a little wiser from my lesson I was approached by another derelict at a train station for money. I instead offered my lunch and was nearly spat at for it. They still took my food though.

Looking back, rather than feeling remorse for these particular people, I kinda wanna laugh. Some really just don’t want to help themselves.. but I would probably still offer my lunch. Just don’t spit at me.

It’s rude for those who are in need to ask for help and then pick and choose when to accept. Some ppl have pride that brings them down. I will always help the “less fortunate”. God bless them… But she ain’t had to go there…
