Best Practice for Grooming Roses.

Prune roses in late winter. Cut away dead growth  and remove dead canes growing towards center of bush or crisscrossing and rubbing each other. Remove shoots called suckers growing from below graft union. Prune just above bud at an angle. Remove old blossom and remove secondary flower. When you water the roses water in early morning and water at least 1″ per week and 2″ per week during growing season.  A rose bush needs 3-5 gal of water. Avoid irrigation that wet foliage because that will cause fungus on the leaves. Soil soaker placed under m ulch is ideal. Apply monthly during the growing season or you can use a liquid fert every  2-3 weeks. Try organic like kelp fish
