Why the Mosque on Ground Zero?

I have been liking President Barack Obama, though his choice to back to Mosque on Ground Zero has me a little angry as well as confused.  Now this is not an article ranting and raving, but one that points out the issue of this. Yes we are a Nation that backs all Religion, but yet to build upon such a hallowed spot any place of worship, is not only wrong but perhaps a bit of a betrayal to our Nation.  This is not directed only towards the Muslim Community but everyone.  This spot is a sacred spot to us, to our Country, where we remember what happened.

Why do they wish to build their Mosque there? What reason do they have to wish to turn a national site of despair and reminder of how we as Americans need to band together, into a temple for their own worship? A spot where thousands had perished, a reminder to a day where so many around the country stopped what they were doing and fell to their knees, praying and weeping.   There are many who feel to build anything, but most especially a Mosque on that site is highly disrespectful and more a spit in the face than anything.

My personal views, I do not care what Religion a person is, or what Nationality, so long as you can respect another persons views and opinions.   There are many who feel that same way, and many of them are also outraged by this.   There are some who back this, even support it.  I suppose it really depends on your view.  Though to point fingers and say your wrong, will only weaken ourselves.

To quote from our President:

“As a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country.”

He told this to listeners outside of the White House Friday Evening.  Indeed they do have the right to practice their Religion, but why be so disrespectful and spit in the face of Americans by building their Mosque at that site? Why not somewhere else? Surely they can practice their religion in a different part of New York City.

The reason so many feel this is wrong, we have that site now to remember the families to remember the thousands who perished when Hijackers took the towers out.  To remember that day when we were attacked.  Yes President Obama, they do have their right to build and Worship on Private Ground.  Yet that spot is no longer Private, but a memorial site to those who fell, to those who lost their lives on that day 9 years ago.
