Does shooting star makes wishes come true?

At the province, there is a saying from elders that “shooting star can make wishes come true”. So it is common for Filipino kids back then in my childhood years to wait for a meteor shower while lying down all together in a round circle at the street.

It was during my elementary years every Friday evening when my playmates and I usually meet up at the street inside the village. We used to have a weekend hang out on watching meteor shower. All of us are so excited to wish every time. I still remember when one time they asked me “what do you want when you grow up?” As a kid who is so innocent and doesn’t picture out yet myself as a grown up, simply says “I want to have freedom to do want I want”. They all give me a strange look and one replied in a curious tone” my mom said that all of us should have a dream; someone successful in a certain field.” How come you don’t even have 1? Then the surrounding is filled with silence until 2 consecutive shooting star fell down and they have made loud scream of each dreams they have. “I want to be an engineer! I want to be a doctor! I want to be a nurse!….

I just close my eyes and on my mind say, “if you really make dreams come true, I just want to be myself all through out. I want to enjoy every single moment in whatever journey God will lead me.”

well, we do that until sixth grade. Now we are all grown up. The question is, does all of our wishes came into reality? The answer is no definitely.

Growing up is full of unexpected surprises. It doesn’t only change our age; But, also the preference of what we like: from the clothes to wear, food to eat, favorites to collect, person to be with, course to take and eventually type of profession to practice.

Since my wishes is so simple, I can say that I’m so blessed to receive just the way i want it to be. The other gifts that i use right now is just a bonus that I never asked, but freely given. Being who we are is the only thing that can set us free. There’s no need to settle on reality that one quote says:

you are not the person, who you think you are

you are not the person, who others think you are

YOU ARE THE PERSON, WHO YOU THINK OTHERS THINK YOU ARE

In life, we should not depend our dreams or goals, decisions and actions on what we think others would think later on. Do it because we want to, it is the right thing and it will makes us FEEL Happy. As much as possible avoid the 2 deadly Cs: comparing, and complaining.

Whatever we are doing right now, even if it’s not what we dreamed for, there’s no room for regrets because it will never be too late for new dreams in the list.

HAPPINESS is ACCEPTANCE after all.

leave all worries to him and he will lead the way.

Don’t be too in a hurry. every second counts. Don’t let anything passed by.

no one knows when the exact time a new surprise will come.
