The value of life from different perspectives.

The question to “What is life ?” can sum up into a book of a variety of perspectives from people with different walks of life. To take a sample view, let us select the standpoint of rich and poor, executives and farmers, scientists and theologians, animal lovers and garden caretakers, the elderly and the young ones.

Some people who want to secure their wealth, the growth of their wealth, and a corresponding improvement in their accomplishments, have considered life like it is an adventure or an instrument to satisfy their expectations. They tend to use people for their ultimate ends. As time passed, when they discovered that people can rebel against great inequality, the rich have learned to be careful not to neglect the lives of those they influence, since showing little concern for lives can get them into troubles. Their businesses can close. Employees can make it difficult for enterprises to progress. Therefore they have learned to initiate ways to get to know their employees in order to predict what might happen under various circumstances. The cost of consequences could be like losses during World War II, or the downfall of a Royal Family, or traumatic experiences resulting from untoward acts of people who avenge misfortunes, for example, when a child gets kidnapped or other terroristic actions. Life for the rich can be filled with happy memories or ruined by just one bad, major decision. Oftentimes, however, life is a matter of NO PAIN NO GAIN. They may have material wealth. But unless the rich study hard and learn from the lives of many other people, they will never know how it is to be poor and struggling in life.

For the poor, life can be a struggle to survive in a world where scarcity means hunger for them and for their children. They will seek comfort in the spiritual teachings from the Church. Although they do not have material wealth and the corresponding privileges that go with wealth, the poor can enjoy simple things like a new recipe on the table for their family members to taste, new clothes, or one new knowlege after another. Their experiences can be rich during their lifetime unlike those who are freed from pressures of poverty as a result of their abundance. However, they are most exposed to temptations to make wrong choices.

Executives look at life based on certain goals. These class of people have placed their hopes on a career until they retire at an old age. Life will then be adjusted to the graces that are gained during the practice of a career, taking family needs into consideration, and finding pleasure and contentment in the results of work well done. Whatever goals they set should be consistent with company objectives that are almost always expressed in terms of profits and qualitative advantages like market leadership, product acceptance, and many more. They are the breed of people who define the life of a business, make it thrive, and keep it useful to a society. Entrusted with key functions and responsibilities, Executives are directors of breadwinners and company resources as well as the ongoing source of life of the business itself. A wrong analysis can lead to loss of customer patronage and/or loss of qualified manpower, until the business loses.
