An inspiring post of the learning taken from "The Little Prince."

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry has truly been a hit in the market, schools, discussions, groups, and the like. It has touched many lives for the virtues integrated in the story. The lesson of valuing friendship has been highly illuminated to be well versed by the readers.

Upon knowing the essence of friendship in every relationship, the application is still the most difficult part most people think of. That is not surprising because strangers are strangers unless being known well, but it takes time to tame and befriend someone as being highlighted in the story.

However, don’t despair. There can a be a true friendship that is not far to occur. It lies on the heart and effort. Here are few tips to be a good friend:

> See the good side of the person. There is no existence of a person with all negativism.

> Take time to know. Do not be judgmental and never close the book too early.

> Invest. Time, trust, sacrifice, and understanding are the essential ingredients to a fruitful relationship. Don’t be scared to invest.

> Forget the pride. It often ends what has not been started yet.

> Maintain a positive attitude. Critiques are there for a reason and that reason is to become better. Learn to deal with them appropriately. Take them positively.

> Beware of destructive monster. Do not create a monster within. If there is a little uncomfortable feeling or annoyance that demands a discussion, open it. Do not make it last long to only create a grudge at certain point.

> Do not count. Friendship is a give and take relationship, but it is wrong to count how much was given and taken. Never let the benefit be the frontier in the relationship.

> Be intimate. Take this positively. Intimacy doesn’t only apply to love affairs. It promotes deep closure yet wholesome relation that will enrich and strengthen the friendship.

There is no assurance that friendship will be easy. There are several bumpy roads that can be met. The important thing is the strength within and a strong bond among friends. Let the acceptance, trust, and belief among friends and the relationship grow even more each day.

Friendship is created from people’s will and begins in the family where a person is being molded. Take the step of real friendship and inspire everyone.
