They say we are the amalgamation of our physical, mental, intellectual, emotional and spiritual parts. How important is it to have mastery over all the other parts before we seek spiritual enlightenment?

When electricity manifests itself through the bulbs it lights the room, through air conditioning system it improves the quality of air in the room, and through an audio system it amplifies music. The same electricity manifests differently depending on the systems through which it expresses itself. Similarly, that one source of spiritual energy becomes action through the body, thinking through the mind, discrimination through the intellect and feeling through the emotional personality. Without a healthy body, a mind with concentration, an intellect that is integrated, and purity in feelings, one is not even qualified to the path of true spiritual possibilities; only spiritual gimmicks are possible.
