I had to wright this essay for Language Arts class so I hope some one likes it!

Some people believe that students should have small periodic vacations through the school year. I honestly disagree with that idea in the upmost degree.  Why you ask? Well it effects a student’s family time at home, does not allow the student the joy of traveling and vacationing like most students do on breaks as it cuts into traveling time, and last and most important due to the limited amount of time you get from periodic breaks, some students will get a feeling of frustration and some depression as they do not receive the full experience of the break.
The first major reason is, I stated earlier, can affect a student’s family time and relations.  The first reason for this is, as I will state later, it does take some time to get from point a to point b. So for some student’s that visit family out of state regularly on the brake system we have now can greatly affect a student’s personal life.  The second reason is that some students (who have separated parents) already have trouble scheduling time with each one along with balancing school work. The third reason also has to do with the second; students just do not have enough time to have a stable relationship with both parents.  Imagine, you are a student who already has limited time with one parent because you can only visit him/her on summer vacation. With the new system students may only be able to spend one to two weeks with a parent that you love.
My second reason is that most families choose to vacation away, usually very far, from their home. The first reason for this is that travel time will cut into a student’s vacation time. Let’s imagine that you are a student traveling a vacation spot in Hawaii and you live in Georgia. An average plane ride would take anywhere from two to three days! With the new plan some are implementing this would be a very tight schedule to keep to. Second reason is the price of such a short trip. Some student’s families own vacation homes as I have stated earlier.  The can be priced at easily anywhere from twenty-five grand to seventy five grand. If it rains, as some would say, you’re screwed! The third reason is the headache of scheduling everything! How would you like to have to plan for weeks on your one week vacation making sure that every variable is looked at and still possibly having it blow up in your face? It is just a headache planning everything!
My third reason is that some students would get overly stressed and possibly depressed from this sudden change in the stressful planning of what is supposed to be a time of relaxation. First of all you do not want your child to have problems because you want to have a “fun” weekend with them. Second this doesn’t have to only affect the child. Third, because of the scheduling some teachers will seek the opportunity to give students home work. With an already over scheduled  weekend do you think some students will be able to fit is that five-hundred word essay on persuading parents and the Board of Education not to choose to change to a new vacation schedule? I think not!

Some people say that kids forget more during longer brakes. Well no they don’t. In fact, the last month after the CRCT is mostly review. So a brake around that time could remarkably lower scores. Other people say that planning is not as a hassle as I say. For those of you that say that, that is just your opinion and yours only.  Let’s not forget about the people that say traveling doesn’t take as long as I stated. Well you problem can afford to fly first class while others can’t. So does that answer any questions?
So to the people that did believe and still do that students should have periodic breaks during the year remember. Students need time to spend with their family. Some families are split and students wouldn’t be able to spend to spend as much time with them if the new schedule where to go through. Let’s not forget about how the complications can stress a student and possibly cause depression. So please, for the sake of the students, choose to abolish even the idea for this schedule.
