Ever wanter to be Super-Human. This article takes a look at the very real breakthroughs that science is making that will push the human body farther than ever before.

Super human feats never before thought possible could soon be around the corner. Science is increasing at an immense rate and with it the human body. People who have lost limbs have been able to regain mobility, specialised suits have allowed us to travel to insanely harsh conditions, people can even control objects with their minds. But i bet your wondering what’s next . . . .

1.RESPIROCYTES

Respirocytes are hypothetical molecules which could potentially replace red blood cells. Respirocytes are basically red blood cells that can hold over 200 times more oxygen than a normal red blood cell. What this would mean for your body is that you would have to breathe very rarely to achieve the normal oxygen levels. It is said that someone could hold there breath for up to 4 hours underwater or sprint for 15 minutes without taking a breathe. That would definetely make the Olympics more fun to watch!

2.ANTI AGING PILL

While an anti aging pill is not quite immortality, it’s the closest were going to get for awhile. Scientists are currently looking at drugs which can slow down the aging process and effectively double someone’s lifespan. While this won’t stop you getting shot or hit by a bus it is a step in the right direction. However if this was available to the public over population would surely be a problem.

3.GENETIC ENGINEERING

The holy grail of super powers.Genetic engineering is the process of manipulating someone’s DNA to produce desirable effects. The current thinking is that this could be used to stop certain hereditary illnesses by altering the genes in embryos. However this could technically be used to give much greater effects. Increased intelligence, photographic memory, huge amounts of muscle, unbreakable bones. The list is endless, however the likelyhood that this will ever happen is very unlikely due to the ethical implications and legal barriers.

4. Invisibility

Scientists are getting ever closer to inventing the fabled invisiblity cloak. A number of breakthroughs have made this look increasingly plausible. Making objects invisible in the infrared range, and 2d objects invisible in the visible light range have already been achieved, it won’t be long more before proper invisiblity cloaks are here.

5.TECHNOLOGY

Technology is getting better all the time, and the rate at which it is being developed is getting faster and faster. Currently scientists are experimenting with enhancing humans with technology, replacing limbs with robotic alternatives etc. However this is currently in it’s infancy. It won’t be long before people are able to enhance their intelligence with built in computers. What’s more is that someday it may be possible to download our thoughts and memories into a computer and thus achieve immortality.

6.NO PAIN

Reducing your pain threshold is nothing new, we do this everytime we take a paracetomol. However eliminating pain completely is a different story. Scientists are continually looking at new drugs that block pain in different ways and continually learning about how pain works. Now while most people think it would be desirable to feel no pain the reality is quite different. There are people who are born without the capability to feel pain, and have many problems to deal with as a result. However there are cases where being painless may be quite useful e.g soldiers on the battlefield.

7.SUPER HEARING

Scientists have recently discovered how to replace the tiny hairs that detect sound inside somebody’s ear. This was developed to help those hard of hearing to regain hearing. However if used to add hairs to an already healthy ear it may be possible to achieve super hearing.

8. EXOSKELETON

An exoskeleton is basically a wearable machine. This machine covers most parts of the body and it’s function is to enhance the speed and strenght of the user. It does this by attaching to the users muscles and reads nerve impulses. This allows someone to seamlessly left extremely heavy objects as the bulk of the work is done by the hydroaulics in the exoskeleton. Previously these machines were thought to be the work of sceince fiction but recently a number of prototypes have been built and tested. The primary interest is from the US military as it would allow soldiers to rescue wounded soldiers much more quickly or possibly wield much heavier we
