 This requires a friend with a laptop that has a wireless card. Have your friend bring their laptop over and open up the wireless configuration utility. The icon looks like a computer monitor with green waves emanating from it, and it is found next to the clock in the corner. once that is open, click “detect wireless networks in range” a few different connections will hopefully pop up, and if so, look for one without a picture of a padlock next to it. That one isnt password protected, and it means anyone may borrow it. If all this is true for you, then you can go out and buy a PCI Wireless Internet Card. These range in price from 30$-80$ depending on the brand and quality, so buy one that suits you.They can be found at most computer stores, as well as Wal-Mart and Radio Shack. Once you and your new package have arrived at home, unplug your computer and slide the side cover off, which should open up with the pressing of two levers on the back. Now look to the bottom towards the back and you will see a few “cards” standing outwards from the rest of the innards. You will notice that they are plugged into long slots. If there is an open slot, that is where your new Wireless card will make its home. If there are no open slots, then yank out (gently!) the “card” that has two telephone jacks on the back, as you will not need this if you are using wireless internet. Now that your wireless card has made its home within your desktop computer, it is time to pop the over on the computer case, screw on the antenna in the back that came with the wireless card, plug in your computer, and get the power going! Now that your computer is logged in, you will need to run the disk that came with your wireless card. Follow the onscreen instructions, and you should be able to use the internet for free! If you are not getting a signal, it might take a bit of re-positioning the antenna, but you should be fine. Enjoy your web surfing and the money in your pocket from not paying for the web!
