A brief debate between a friend of mine and myself of whether or not competition is inherently a human instinct or an adaptation.
NeoSapein:
You know it would be nice to have some intelligent conservatives to talk to just so we can come together and figure out how to solve problems instead of bickering. The elites use this two party system to keep us so divided that all we do is argue instead of think of prudent ways to take back our government.
Keith:
We won’t be solving much on this Facebook board. And we can hardly blame the two party system for playing on our worse instincts. Our minds are wired this way, to pit “us” against “them”. Nevertheless, I agree that this board needs better conservatives. It needs a more mature level of inter locution in general. I’ll do my part and I hope you’ll do yours.
NeoSapein:
I don’t believe our minds are wired to compete nor is that inherent of human nature. It is a symptom of the monetary system. Finding ways to relate to people will help bring change. Rob and I agree on abolishing the Federal Reserve Bank. If he could stop being such an asshole maybe we could work together on a solution or at least exchange ideas.
Keith:
I wasn’t speaking about competition but I could if you wish. I was talking about this phenomenon: http://www.futurepundit.com/archives/003240.html And that is not an effect of our monetary system. Neither is the competition present in all cultures and economic systems which manifests from the first moments when we can walk or talk. It is our nature. And as Nietzsche (through Zarathustra) said; “Mann ist etwas, der überwunden werden soll”.

I should have been more clear by saying that scarcity created competition and/or the monetary system was born of that. Really, it is not human nature to compete with itself. That would be self destructive and against the natural human instinct to survive through social cooperation. The human race is like a single organism that is being self destructive from within, almost like it has a virus (which in this case) we will call competition.
Humans do not learn to compete with each other unless they are brought up in a scarce society or environment. In a world with abundant resources we have a monetary system that can only sustain itself through planned obsolescence and scarcity to ensure profits and it’s own relevance.
If everyone had everything they needed from the day they were born they would have no reason to compete.
