Whether Ike hits Houston or not, we are still going to see a lot of damage. We will be experiencing hurricane force winds. There is a storm surge of 18 feet expected to hit Galveston Bay.

Already, there is a mandatory evacuation for these zip codes… 77058,77059, 77062, 77520, 77546, 77571, 77586 and 77598. The rest is voentary evacuation. For those who know your home is likely to get flooded, I would suggest you leave. Put your valubles up high so they wont be affected by flood damage. 

Those who are staying to ride out the storm should keep the following on hand. Plenty of non perishable food, water enough to last each person in the house 3 days, baby formula for infants in the home, matches, flashlights, portable radio, and anything else you might find you need during this time, each person is different and has their own needs in a situation like this.
