Seriously People, It’s Just a Date on a Calendar!

First of all, the Mayan Calendar is a lunar based calendar based on the movement of the moon. Our calendar system that we use happens to be the Gregorian Calendar based on the calendar reformation by Pope Gregory XIII in the year 1582. Also, we obtain our year numbering system from the years leading up to the Birth of Jesus and the years leading from the Birth of Jesus. Second of all, I have repeatedly seen some 2012 sources state that the so-called 2012 “disasters” occurring on December 21st while others have stated December 22nd and with many stating December 23rd (which is why this article uses that particular date, as its the one widely used).

Therefore, the fact that those in charge are using this event as an excuse to control the gullible (Come to think of it, every society is guilty of controlling the gullible, but lets be clear on one thing, I am no anarchist, I am an amateur historian). Also, there is the fact that calendar used by the Mayans is not like our current calendar as we base ours on the Birth of Jesus and not on the movement of the moon. I should also state the inconsistencies with the date the event is supposed to take place.

In closing, for everyone out there who believes in 2012, I want you all to know that there is nothing to be worried about. There are no disasters or any other form of a big event set to happen on that date, so why worry about something that will not occur (the so-called “event”) and has yet to occur (the actual date itself). The only THING I do see happening on December 23rd, 2012 is a giant rush of last minute Christmas shoppers trying to shop for that one present to complete their lists as they are desperately trying to finish their shopping in time for the Holidays. So why worry? Everything is going to be alright.

For the record our calendar is not based on the birth of jesus. The calendar starts with the alleged birth of jesus but the actual calendar is based upon the earths rotation on its axis as well its rotation around the sun.
You’re right about the world not ending though.
