In India these words may not be common but the numbers who are being affected by the same are increasing day by day. About 111,000 people die every year due to smoking or passive smoking. This can be termed as easily as someone is smoking your lungs to make them a home of cancer, generally the second hand things don’t work out but this is the thing which works on your lungs unintentionally but significantly. This truly gives power to the saying of old ones that “a rotten apple spoils the barrel”.

Smokers tend to believe in the fact that they are spoiling their own lives and why should anyone just stop them as they are harming themselves not the others.

But they don’t realize the fact that in a way they are spoiling the lives of their near and dear ones as they would get affected of the 2nd hand smoke being exported by their puffs into the atmosphere.

Your chances of death due to heart attack or stroke increase by 25 percent if you live with a active smoker.

Passive smoking affects children more fatally; it can cause sudden death, middle ear infections, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia. But when this affects unborn children it becomes more lethal as unborn passive smokers may lead to spontaneous abortion, perinatal death, preterm birth which can later on affect their lives significantly.

Also the concerns of lung cancer increase by 24 percent when you smoke passively.

Bans are being imposed on the people who smoke publicly. In India also this has been done that gazetted officer can fine the person who is smoking publicly, but the fact is that no one is aware is about the rule and the power and how to use the power. even now after the implementation of law by the government literally no fines have been imposed ,when people themselves are not made aware about the fact that how lethal is the passive smoking they will never resort to the measures for curbing it out.

The tobacco products which are the source of this lethal smoke were asked to be packed in the packets with the statutory warning written along with the pictures but those pictures which were proposed by the council were tampered to less lethal ones through the negotiations between the government and the tobacco manufacturers as the manufacturers suggested that this will decrease their sales

In this world not even a single person is there who will kick out his/her stomach similar is the thing with the government how can they kick out the highest tax paying business so easily.

One more concern is that in our country most of the smoke is as the result of local cigarettes ,there is no warning or pictures as such on local brands & the people who are illiterate are also not aware of the affects of passive smoking as well as smoking.

Even the literate people tend to overlook or ignore the warnings written on cigarette packs, fully knowing the consequences it can lead to. The main thrust areas where the effort must be put for the eradication of the smoking are lacking behind. No awareness programs are their in the areas where the working class or the people belonging to lower middle class reside are still bearing the draught of information or knowledge about the ill effects of smoke, the lower strata people are more affected as they are also not able to have healthy diet as compare to the well off people. Passive smoking is a disease with a cause that is defined to be undefined.
