A poem about a man sinking in life.

I sink as I swim,
Though the water is shallow,
My bourdens weighing me down,
The heaviness inside
As solid as a stone.

I sink as I swim,
Though I wear a life jacket.
But the sharks
Circling around me
Are hungry and mean.

I sink as I swim,
And for a moment I can’t see
The shore
Where you’re standing
Waving to me.
