In this spookiest of seasons when “yellow leaves , or few, or none do hang,” we might wonder if our eyes are playing tricks on us. There in the shadowy corner we might see a sudden movement or tiny flash of light. We might wonder if a ghost has come to visit. Why not? Their world intercept with ours. Accounts are plentiful regarding ghostly “sightings.” However, it is just as common to smell ghosts. Deceased relatives may return to us in clouds of fragrances we associate with them – the whiff of cigar, the waft of lavender, the cheerful aroma of freshly picked apples. Spirits send scent molecules instead of greeting cards. On the other hand, bad smells often coincide with hauntings. I have experienced sweet rotten smells coming out of nowhere, and have felt quite uneasy. No need, though. A handy remedy against unpleasants is a simple lemon slice. Just squeeze a few lemon drops on to a dish with fresh marjoram if possible, and your funky spirit should depart. If you still smell a presence say, “In the name of (Invoke a saint, angel, or deity) I tell you to get to the light of love.” If you are still bothered and sense a growing heaviness in the atmosphere,
