A creative piece on Iago, from Othello.

Sneakiness.  Deception.  These are both words that come to my mind when I think of Iago.  I find Iago the most interesting character in Othello for many reasons.  The simplest of these reasons is that he is such a likable character.  His lines are often amusing, and his trickery is amusing to the people who know what is going on.  Another thing that intrigued me was how little we know about him.  We see him do all of this trickery and he seems to get pleasure out of it.  Why does he like to have fun at another’s expense.  For example when he kills his wife (V.ii.282).

In Hap, by Thomas hardy it says, “Thou suffering thing, Know that thy sorrow is my ecstasy, That thy love’s loss is my hate’s profiting!”  This quote describes Iago very well.  I think he likes to see other’s pain.  Also I think he wants to be known and if he is known with a bad reputation it is fine for him.

I think Iago suits the choices of favorites that I made for him because he is sneaky and all of the choices I made for him involve mystery.  For example I chose older baseball as a sport for him because it involved a lot of trick plays and trying to win by tricking the other team and not by being better at baseball.  Star wars suits him well because it involves a lot of well thought out plans to destroy people and reputations.  Both CSI and Scooby doo involve mystery and lies but there are some funny lines/scenes.  Angels and demons incorporated a lot of deception with action.  I think that he would shop at a costume store because I always picture him with a cape and mysterious clothing.
