A brief discussion about March’s days and superstitions.
Ides of March and Julius Caesar. In the Shakespearean play, “Julius Caesar”, a soothsayer yelled out, “Beware of the Ides of March”. The ides were the fifteenTh of the months. On this day Julius Caesar was assassinated. How many of us have a date in the year when we fear that something bad will happen. It is common to believe that Friday the thirteenTh is unlucky. but the thirteenTh would be a good day if it was ones birthday. I know someone who was born on September 11Th. She has never been able to enjoy her birthday since the disaster on 2001.
But how valid are these worries? Or are they just superstition?
I think the fact that people keep on being born is an affirmation by God that the world is still good.
Sometimes I think that people will something bad to happen. I think that is what psychologists call self fulfilled prophesy.
There are things one can to to overcome superstition. Lets say one has a big exam. One can allow a lot of time to study. One can be sure to get good sleep.
