Ever think of things you did…or decisions you made…that make you cringe now? Things that make you wonder, "whatever was I thinking"?!

If I knew then what I know now, I’d have stayed on the fence…not go in with the cow!

If I knew then what I know now, I’d have waited an hour…shoveling AFTER the plows!

Not buy a car without checking for leaks…because of it’s color which seemed oh so sleek!

Nor bring out the mower…we’re cutting the grass…I needed to hurry…who had time to check gas?

Nor bake up some cookies with nary a book…believing that “easy” described learning to cook!

If I knew then what I know now, I’d have bought a bike that would FIT me, somehow!

If I knew then what I know now, I’d have backed off the stage…not stand there and bow!

Not turn on the fan before picking up bills…nor hiking a mile BEFORE checking for hills!

Nor ride a flume wearing white cotton clothes…so nice on dry land…but not a wet boat!

Nor ignoring my feet while I picked wild flowers…three leaves on a stem means you’ll itch hours and hours.

If I knew then what I know now, the birdcage would have been higher, somehow.

The curtains I liked would have stayed in a drawer…far far away from sharp kitty claws!

The flowers we planted would have been artificial…and traveling means that directions are helpful!

If I knew then what I know now, I’d have gone inside when I spied that cloud!

When I drank that drink…when I ate those clams…when I bought that movie…when I “OK’d” that plan…

When I chose that paint…when the retread went “pow”!…if I only knew then what I know right now!!

Oh that is brilliant, Muriel. I think I could add to that list. I seem to have been so foolish on many an occasion. I wish I had a smiley face to put here. A great piece.

Hi Ceegirl; Ha ha. I don’t think anyone can say they haven’t done something that, looking back, makes them wonder about their intelligence level!! I can’t count the times I have said this, too! Lol.

Hi Christine; Yes, I’m sure this list could be quite a bit longer for us all! But I’m not going to delve too deeply into the past or I might wreck my day! Ha ha.

Great piece Muriel and one I think we can all relate too, had to laugh at the opening line, as it brought back memories of when I was courting my first wife, while walking in the coutry we spotted a cow that had just calved, and she decided to take a closer look, against my advice, she started walking towards mom and baby, but having just given birth mom was in a defencive mood, and she charged, Inever saw anyone move so fast. thanks again for a great piece.

Hi Brianberu; Ha ha ha! I know how she felt! It is amazing how our feet can take us from zero to sixty in just a second or two! Lol !
Also, when we do something that proves we are not as smart as we think we are, it is very hard to live these things down…because there are usually witnesses! :)
