My day would start and end with a dream; a dream prod by Tootsie Roll. Don’t be silly! To those who presume damn quickly, before you take your dirty mind off elsewhere, I am really ratting about the 1896 chewy candy. Sorta preposterous that Tootsie Roll can make me faraway and wishful, right? If that stirs your interest, why not linger and read up awhile.

It’s not like I don’t dream about a visit to Louvre Museum. It’s not like I don’t dream of going to Italy to pray and also marvel Michelangelo’s masterpiece. It’s not like I don’t imagine myself eating sushi and ramen in the exact place where it was first prepared. It’s not like watching a football game under the heat of Africa is not one of my whims. It’s not like I’m not crazy about going to Greece and learning about Sparta from the Greeks themselves. Travel is one thing and staying awhile enough to embrace a new culture is an entirely different thing. Every so often, I would just gaze at the stars and wish I can fly, not to the moon, but to the land of milk and honey. If only America is as accessible as a piece of Tootsie Roll. If only.

Altogether, I guess my American Dream is not merely a dream to be successful; it is a hope of a life of bliss and all the while having confidence that all your endeavors have entitled you to it. At times, I would think like Christopher Gardner in the movie Pursuit of Happyness; and I would wonder how Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence mentioned the right to life, liberty, and happiness and put the word pursuit like happiness is only something we can pursue but never really have. I would think about it but I would never think about throwing in the towel. Because someone once reminded me that sometimes, the beauty is in the attempt. So, I’ll never stop hoping. You shouldn’t, neither. Trust Journey; Don’t Stop Believing.
