On the future and what is to come.
My Grandpa once told me, “Why worry about the future, Live for now and let the future take its toll! Besides you can’t change the future anyway!” That was probably the best advice I could have even been given! I did not know it then, but looking back I now realize what my Grandpa was talking about. I can’t change the future, the reality of it all is the future changes us!
As a child I never dreamed I would one day live in a world that was total chaos. Our resources are getting more and more scarce, but perhaps not as scarce as that thing we all call a job! Everything is all about that all mighty Dollar! In the old days , we took care of our own, we took pride in our Country and vowed to be the very best! Oh how times have changed.
Way back when a person could buy a item, because it was “American Made” and know that item would last forever. Oh how times have changed! Companies nowadays outsource the products to any given country that will build the product as cheap as possible. The companies no longer care about the consumer, there is no such thing as a Warranty anymore, Well unless you pay extra for it! What ever happened to standing behind your product?
Ok, so we now live in a world of disposable goods. By this I mean, if you buy any kind of electrical or mechanical item, do not expect it to last for years on end like it was in the good ol days! The old saying, “The Rich gets richer while the poor get poorer,” is no longer so. Even the rich are starting to feel the crunch. However, I still would not mind being in the Rich category! We as Americans used to be on top, but what has happened? We now are desperately trying to play catch up to many countries now. Our economy is going down quick, yet instead of trying to fix it and get back to what we once was, we now head deeper into the hole.
The Big Corporations don’t care, so why should our Politicians? Both only care about one thing, what is best for them and how they will benefit from any given situation. So what are we to do? What does our future hold for us? When I look back at the jobs and the economy that was around when I was a child and see what little is around now I get a very uneasy feeling about what our future holds for us.
Now don’t get me wrong, not everything has went down since I was a child! I mean look at the crime rate from 30 years ago. Why with all the drugs and other crimes I would say this has reached a all time high. Besides the crime rate and the price of gas, along with everything else what more could we ask for? I sometimes ask myself, since I am loosing my money anyway why not just spend it all on lottery tickets? At least I have some chance of winning! Even if I did win the Government is still going to get most of that anyway, so I would still have not much then before!
The future is uncertain of what it holds for us. Nobody knows of what is to come, sure technology will get better but is that all? So all I can say to you is, “ Why worry about the future, Live for now!” I don’t see much getting better in the future so enjoy the moment and make the best of it.
