Flight of the Conchords

This strange tune is one of my favourite songs. It is a folk rap combination by a New Zealand comedy band called Flight of the Conchords. The song is a rap battle between the Hiphopopotamus and the Rhymenoceros.

Flight of the Conchords is a television show about the band trying to be successful in New York. It is one of my favourite shows because it is funny and they also make music videos that they work into the plot of the show. In the show when they rap this song, they are getting mugged and are trying to convince the muggers they are tough before getting chased into an alley although they obviously are not.

This song came up in my life when a friend and I were in the Cheema talent show in Florida. We chose to rap this song and won the talent show. I think the only reason we won was because my friend and I are fairly quiet and our performance was unexpected. The coach barely ever heard us talk and some of the lyrics in the song are fairly awkward to say. All in all it’s a good song and I had a good time rapping it. It is one of my favourite songs and it has quite a few stories in my life.

“The Itsy Bitsy Spider”

This song is influential on my life because it is the song that my mom sang to me when I was a baby. It was the only song she knew and it would always amuse me. Also as I got older, it had another important meaning. My grandfather couldn’t do much with me because he was ill with heart disease and cancer. He used to always play a game with me called spiders which he made because I liked the song so much. He would pretend there were spiders climbing up my back. My grandfather is now dead but every time I hear this song it reminds me of him.
