Retreat in the Everyday days 5-8.

People often comment to me that I seem to take things in my own time. For myself I do not think that is the case. It is only that life has taught me that rushing to get things done, which is my normal bent, creates more problems than it solves. So I have learned to take life at a slower pace than I would really like to go, if I were under my own steam.
I am not, of course under my steam, but under God’s steam. Of course I also live life out on this earth, which means certain things have to be accomplished. So even when I rush to get things done, I have to keep God in mind. Really, life works out better when I let God lead me instead of trying to do it the other way around. It does mean that things aren’t on a perfect a schedule as I would always like. It means that for the present, my income is variable and that if I want to get anywhere I am limited to public transportation or friends. But here’s the kicker: As long as I let God be in control I can feel His protection around me. I think that is worth it.
