This is an article about dreams and how and why we have them. Why they are so important for us. Dreams help us function in the world and how to solve problems. Written by Ryan Keith Johnson who shares his experiences with dreams and opinions.

Why Do We dream?

Probably the most unanswered questions that everybody on Earth has is the mystery behind Dreams.  These strange phenomenons have affected mankind in many ways, both disastrous and creative. Why do we dream and how many different kinds of dreams remains as the only answer to the mystery of what are dreams.

Why do we dream? The question is as profound as why are we here on Earth? I have barely scratched the surface on the subject because there is so many variables. Dreams live with us, inspire us, warn us, and give us hope for a better way of life.  We’ve  been dreaming even before we were born and for a quarter of our lives we will have slept our lives away.  It has been said that god speaks to us through our dreams They fill our body with unimaginable strength in both our mind and immune system.  I did an experiment when I lived in Rice Lake I slept for 12 hours each day and felt so exuberant, coordinated and stronger than usual. I did another experiment and slept for four hours within a month I felt weak, sick, moody and uncoordinated in my thinking.

Nobody knows for certain why we dream and each theory doesn’t seem to fit.  I have found that we only use 15% of our brain during a daily exercise and when we go to bed to surrender for tomorrow we dream of the day and our mind unwinds  and organizes events.  It goes through hundreds of cycles, or dreams.   In my research I talked with other people that we have a thousand dreams in a night  Dreams reflect ourselves and our life, sometimes in more ways than we realize.  Our dreams work out our problems from the real world to the dream world where we have visited and lived our lives. After we have tried to beat the problem it remains in our subconscious that is why we dream about it.  To get relief and answers, we need to dream.

Scientist did an experiment on an individual, for a month they kept him from reaching R.E.M. Rapid Eye Movement is the dreaming animation that we endure every night. This individual was detained in a ten by ten room for a month. By the time this person reached the 28th day he suffered psychological damage and faced hallucinations. He had sores all over his body and thought that there were tarantulas all over his room biting him. The subject almost died because he was being kept from R.E.M. After sleeping four days straight the he made a full recovery, but it shows to prove that we do not mess with our body and play games with what the mind needs.
