Here is some information about climate change/global warming.

We can all help change what our future is like by our actions we take and we can all help stop global warming/climate change. Climate change is a slow increase in the earth’s temperature due to the increasing amount of carbon dioxide and other gases. It is difficult for us to feel the changes of the climate because it is happening very slowly. The increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is keeping the heat in and the ozone layer is keeping most ultraviolet rays out. But different issues are breaking down the ozone. From 1906-2005 the temperature increased about 1-1.7 degrees Fahrenheit all over the world. The greenhouse gases being emitted all over the world will increase overtime and it will warm the planet.

For natural cycles to occur it takes tens of thousands of years. The changes we are experiencing now should have taken tens of thousands of years to happen so the human race must have speed the rate of the reaction up. So if we don’t do anything then our future generations will be changed forever. The effects can be seen in the earths ice sheets, which grow when the sunshine decreases. And right now the ice sheets are melting or starting to show signs.

The world community is solving other pollution problems by trying to decrease the amount of CO2 going in to the air because it is causing the earth to heat up. Some people are creating a place where you can put CO2 into the pipes and they will store it underground. But currently they are trying to see if the CO2 can float to the surface. The Environmental Protection Agency knows that human activities are changing the composition of the earth’s atmosphere, CO2 causes us to burn more fossil fuels, there is a increase in the earth temperature and greenhouse gases will rise over the next few decades.

Some fingerprint evidence of climate change is heat waves and unusual weather. The temperature has been increasing in many regions like in Glasgow, Montana temperatures have stayed above 0 degrees Fahrenheit. Ocean warming has also increased the rise in sea level and glaciers to melt. In Bermuda, the saltwater is rising and killing mangroves. Also the glaciers are melting and in India the Himalayas are losing 50 feet per year and the stream flow has increased 75%. The Artic and Antartic have been warming above the global average for the past decades. In the Antartic Peninsula an ice shelf disintegrated in about 35 days.
