Just this year my family has need of some help.  Most of my life I have helped others and find when its my turn that the slate is blank.  I began talking to other friends in the senior catagory and find they are in a similiar sitituation.

     The Government grants are for real but they require someone to help locate them and apply.  If anyone has ever checked they would find that this cost enoygh money that I wouldn’t need any help if I had this kind of available cash.  The state programs are just as funny in obtaining them.  They all wanted to see last years tax forms.  Great, I did not need help last year!!  I need a new furnace because the one that I have is blowing black soot through the vents but you can not apply for help til the fall.  I really would like this heat before winter sets in and we freeze to death.

     We have had a real hard year for medical.  Tried looking for help there too and I can’t find anything to even apply for.  If I was younger and had kids I could almost get instant aide but being a senior is not a priority. 

     To grow old is bad enough but to know that with each growing year we become less and less in the eye of the nation and our neighbors.  I wish that there was a way to help right this but unless someone is found dead or half dead it does not even make the news’

   I hope that things will someday change and that the more advantaged financial class will come to the aide of the people who made it possible for them to get to their goal.  Til then we seniors will ride a lonely path.
