A short essay saying how conversation is becoming a dying art.
According to the dictionary conversation is ” oral exchange of sentiments, observations , opinions or ideas”In today’s world there is very little oral exchange of any kind and it is mainly due to the technological advancements. The ability to converse intelligently is an acquired skill which most people lack today. Conversation is becoming what can be termed ” a dying art” . Effect of TelevisionIt all started when televison was invented and it kind of took over the lives of ordinary people. In the pre-televisin days people would return home and spend time with each other.Meal times used to be a family affairs with all members sharing their days with each other The dining table used to a place for many a discussions. All that changed once TV took over. Now a days most families eat their meals in front of the TV.There is no sharing of each ideas, no discussions or debatesEmailMost people prefer to communicate through email rather than converse with each other. Email does have its advantages as it enables us to exchange messages with people all over the world but it icannot be a substitute for real conversation.Email can be used to send messages but cannot be a substitute for conversation because there might not be an immediate response and even if there was one it cannot convey the sentiment that goes with the message.
