A cry for help.
I watch the news everyday, and I tell myself every single time — why do I keep on watching the news when it’s always one depressing story after another? It’s sad to see upfront what is happening not only in the Philippines, but all over the world. Natural disasters, crimes, poverty, you name it! Day after day there’s a new country getting flooded. There are new provinces in the Philippines drowning. Global warming has greatly affected the world in a blur. We’ve been told what global warming and the drastic climate change it brings can do. And yet we’re still caught off guard. It was too sudden. We were all surprised by how much damage has occurred. It’s been several days. In all 5 continents, there is chaos. Global warming has taken its toll on us. And yes, we are to blame. Not nature. We are. Here in the Philippines, everyday there is a new town or province affected by the floods. The number of deaths is increasing. All over the world, nature has spoken. I am thankful that our place is not affected by the continuous rains and the floods. And I am hoping disaster won’t go our way. My heart goes out to everyone affected. To my fellow Filipinos. To everyone around the world. That everyone be kept safe. That everyone survives this grievous affliction that is taking the world without warning.
Another problem the Philippines is facing is the rising number of criminal injustices. I am pretty sure that this is happening in other countries too. Here in the country, you hear the news reporting how a person was brutally tortured and then burned to death. After a while there’s another input on how another person has suffered the same fate. Then there are officials getting involved in drugs, plunder, and even heinous crimes. Police officers involved in non-work related gun firings. The list goes on and on. If I continue with all the issues, I would grow old in front of my computer. What is happening to our country? Don’t we have too much problems and issues already? Do we not need to focus on how to unite our people first? Or on how to provide food for everyone? As in everyone? Or on how to solve the freaking traffic problems? I don’t get it. I really don’t. I don’t know why this is all happening. Maybe we’ve done too much, and I mean too much, and God is punishing us for all our sins. Who knows? Maybe it really is the end of the world.
I just want to reach out to everyone. Let us pray for peace. Let us pray for everyone’s safety. Let us pray that we survive this grave obstacle. Let us all pray for continued guidance and blessings. Let us repent on our sins. Let us ask for forgiveness. Let us make life worth living. Let us hope that tomorrow, there is something more positive on the news.
