I got inspiration from David Lachapelle’s expo, I was really surprised when I discovered a serial of pictures from Disney’s attraction “It’s a small world” on the expo, maybe someone understands that as I do. Maybe that´s a small world but inside of us there is z chance to make it: a big world.

I also got inspiration from the chocolate (in Spanish bombón), we live in different small worlds, but maybe someday we will make a big world together.

Since I visited Disneyland by the first time, I was twelve, a game caught my attention and I really enjoyed and like it. My parents and sisters insisted that it wasn’t the best game or the most amazing experience, but I really liked it. I came back to Disney at 14 and 25. In the last visit I realized that what I like about that attraction is more related with my particular point of view, the different way of think.

“It’s a small world” is the attraction, it’s simple and nowadays too old fashioned according to Disney innovation, but I like all the elements behind it. The smiley faces of all that dolls, the sarcasm behind those colored suites, the ridiculous music inviting everyone to get lost on it. And you see how Russia, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, India, United States….and all that countries are really happy, all the countries are one, perfect people moving their heads with the rhythm of that famous song….”It’s a small world after all”. That last time, I insisted in ridding the game two times, I analyzed every face, every movement of these old dolls and I really wanted to cry….cause sometimes I left my perfect life apart and I think about the world….too big concept.

I thought on my daily life and realized that many things are superficial or material, as a “generation Y” girl I give value to many material things but behind these it’s the need to be cool, trendy, fashion to be accepted by the others and by myself. Another important value for my generation is to be smart, its unforgivable to be stupid, to fail, we attended the best schools, our job must be on a nice transnational corporation or it must be a successful independent business, we should drive the best cars, have expensive and luxury clothes and fashion stuff. We must travel as much as we have time and if there are exotic the vacations, its more appreciated and envied by the others. Maybe on my small world, Marianne’s world, I appreciate intelligence and culture of people, maybe too much and I tend to judge people for that.

All these is our small world, the picture of us: Mexican medium-high level generation Y.

Sometimes I think I don’t belong to this world, sometimes I want just to love, love someone, love everyone without caring their cultural level, the school they attend or their family’s success. Just love. I really tried but it seems that the small world rules me. I want just to let it be, let options of my life to run, to choose from the huge  not from the small world where I live.

Everyone has it´s own small world, daily life customs commonly accepted by the others that belong to the same small world. But the world, the nations are the result of too many small worlds, small bubbles that seem to be living one fact in different ways. Many worlds so far one from the rest, too indifferent to care.

Maybe it’s time to survive in the small world, but to create inside me a big world where the size is given by love, the love given to everyone.

P.S.
