Life and times of a scotsman in kilsyth.

Sunshine a rare occurence in this part of the world, the big yellow ball in the sky is an infrequent visitor to these shores. We wonder why those of the Celtic race a paler than normal; well there is the answer a lack of sunshine, that life giving ball of flame that produces vitamin D. it also gives one a feeling of wellbeing when the sun comes out, then again the first sighting of sunshine and warm weather brings out a rare species;the sun worshipers. Out comes the bar-b-que, beer is bought and consumed at a furious rat and then the dreaded cd player without volume control. Now I am all for music ,loud music at that, but when it bellows out in back gardens it becomes a bit unbearable. As you have more than one vehicle for music the volume rises from song to song and garden to garden; we then wonder why people grow Leylandii Hedges. Just one of many hazards that acome out when the sun shines.

Confession time ,it was sunny on sunday morning as we went to church in Lenzie, this is just a few miles from where we live. There is a new road from Kirkintilloch to Lenzie, it has no speed restiction signs so therefore one does not take too much notice of ones speed.Yes you have guessed it, I was stopped and issued a ticket informing me of speeding. Now the local boy and girl in blue are aware that there is no speed sign, ah that does not matter they say, the road is still within the town boundary so therefore the speed limit is thirty. Would it not have been prudent to warn drivers that the speed limit is thirty and therfore issue a warning. Our police must need the money especially as the Strathclyde Police has just bought a new range of BMW,s X5 vehicles.

So you see the sun brings out all sorts of things into the bright warm weather, we love the sun but sometimes just sometimes I could live without it.
