Carla Cassidy was sent to Knightly Academy by her parents after a horrible incident back at her old home in Michigan. Now at this odd boarding school in the middle of nowhere, maine, Carla is forced to face a reality that she hadn’t believed exsisted when her parents tell her shes a witch. Besides being knew at Knightly Academy (a school for supernatural teens) and starting as a junior, shes not a full witch. Her father is a wizard but her mother was a human (or so she was told), which is unacceptable in the supernatural world. As her first few months began, she begins to fall for her trainer, Wylie Justice, another half-wizard. During thanksgiving break her friend Prue gets kidnapped by evil fairies and it ends up being up to Carla to save her. With the help of a sarcastic vampire classmate, Carla runs away from school in search of her friend. Along the way, she finds her hart torn between her feelings for Wylie and, Cathal Wilder, the sarcastic, but sexy, vampire.
Carla stomped away from the clock tower building and down the center side walk. She didn’t want to return to her closet sized room so she kept walking. She stopped walking when she realized she was about to follow the side walk into the dark forest. She stared down the walk. She couldn’t see the end to it. she decided to see where it lead and trudged forward. Within a few feet the world around her seemed to dim. It took longer than she thought it would to get to the end. She began to panic five minutes into the walk. Then she saw the opening at the end of the trail and she stepped out into a clearing.
The clearing was huge. To her right was a horse stable and a few horses grazing out in a fenced in field. To the left was a huge outdoor stadium, as Carla turned towards it, she heard the clinking of metal. Carla walked up to the nearest door that lead into the stadium. She entered the dark hallway and snuck up the staircase that lead to the seats. Once she reached the top of the staircase, she glanced around the stadium and realized it wasn’t a stadium but an arena.
She walked up to the first rows of seats an croached down. There was about a twenty foot drop to the arena. It looked like something you would see in Rome, this fied was simple and made out of dirt. What caught and held her attention was the two men who were sword fighting in the middle of the field.
It amazed her how fast the men’s movements were and the power between each blow. The older man looked to be in his early forties with short graying hair. His body was lean and sweat gleamed from his shirtless chest. The other man was who drew her attention. He had thick curly black hair, which reminded Carla of Cathal’s, but it was longer, just brushing his shoulders. He too was soaked in sweat. Carla watched the muscles in his back as he raised his sword and then brought it back down with such force that she jumped when the swords collided.
A hand came down on Carla, causing her to yelp in suprise. She turned to see the twins and Prudence. Jay removed his hand from her shoulder, and apology written all over his face. “We wanted to say that we are sorry.” He said.
“Yeah,” said joss said. “We like you not matter what. What we said wasn’t right.”
Carla opened her mouth to say that she excepted their apology when a voice boomed from within the arena. “You are not permitted to be in here.”
Carla stoud up and turned to see the two men approach them, the older man in the lead. “You know better Joss, Jay, and Prudence.”
“We were giving Carla a tour of the campus.” Joss said.
“You still need premission to be in here.” He turned he glare in Carla’s direction. Carla was immediately glad that they were standing twenty feet bellow her or she was sure that stare you render her speechless. “You Darrin’s girl?”
“Yes I’m Darrin Cassidy’d daughter.” She was proud te here her voice come out steady and calm.
He nodded as though he approved. “I am Professor Liam, this is my student teacher Wylie Justice.”
Carla glanced towards Wylie, he was definitely younger than she had thought he was. Wylie looked up in her direction, nodded, then looked away uninterested. Ouch, Carla thought. I know im not gorgous but… She gave up on that thought.
“You four should run along.” Professor said, his tone ment that it was an order, not a suggestion. “I will be seeing you in class tomorrow.”
Carla felt excitement build in her stomache. She will be able to see Wylie again tomorrow. She glanced back at him one last time, but he was already heading acrossed the arena, his back to her. This school has just became a little more interesting, she thought as she followed the others out.
