Who is Doctor Who? Why is he so cool in the UK?
Doctor House?
Doctor Phil?
Doctor Evil?
The Answer is Doctor Who.
Or radically speaking, “The Doctor”. Who is Doctor Who? Doctor Who is acknowledged as the longest running science fiction television series on BBC. Despite popular belief, Doctor Who did not exist before time itself. Rather, Doctor Who has been running since 1963, with one space void between 1989 and 2005. Eleven different actors have portrayed the time-traveling protagonist. He regenerates whenever he requires a new body. In perpetuum with the demographics of the show, the Doctor’s regenerated body implores the viewers’ inquisitive minds.

Why is Doctor Who So Popular?
The popularity of Doctor Who has waxed and waned throughout the years, with three notable spans of high ratings. The first span was during the “Dalekmania” era, between 1964 and 1965, when the show impacted 14 million viewers. The second span was during the late 1970s, when Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor reincarnation was introduced. Tom Baker is frequently referred to as the “Scarf Doctor” and he drew audiences of over 12 million. As for the third notable span, when BBC One broadcasted, “Rose”, the first episode of the 2005 season, it drew nearly 11 million viewers. After the series’ revival in 2005, the viewership levels have remained consistently elevated. Doctor Who has spread across the Universe, especially across the United States. The US has magnetized a large group of fans after five seasons of Doctor Who airing on the Syfy channel.
What’s “The Doctor” Like?
The Doctor’s character has always been obscured by his perplexity. What is known about most of his past, present, and future is ambiguous. As an alien traveller of astronomical intelligence, the Doctor battles injustice in the Universe while inspecting time and space in his unpredictable time machine called the “TARDIS”. The TARDIS is an acronym for “Time And Relative Dimensions In Space.” On the outside, the TARDIS appears to be an inconspicious blue telephone police box from the 1950s. However, this is merely a facade, for it is much larger and more sophisticated inside. The TARDIS suffices as the Doctor’s only home.

The Doctor is the last of his extraterrestrial race: the Time Lords. Time Lords have the capability to see into the past, present, and future simultaneously. This gifted ability gives him a clever and whimsical personality. The Doctor strongly agrees that the pen is mightier than the sword and is never seen holding a weapon. He carries a handy sonic screwdriver to pick locks and activate computers. He also possesses two superpower-like traits: immortality and telepathy. The Doctor has the ability to regenerate his body a total of thirteen times. His current age is nine hundred and seven, but his age has conflicted itself many times throughout the seasons. Each season has a new, unsolved mystery with new characters.
