Ethnographical description of the "Today"
Sunday. Yes, today is another Sunday afternoon. The guys of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute is playing cricket in the cricket field. I went to Sealdah to buy tickets today morning. The local train was overcrowded. The commuters were all dressed in beautiful and colorful dresses. The weekend mood was set up every nooks and corners. Young girls wore colorful clothes, whereas their mothers wore gorgeous. The father’s looked rather simplistic. Young male commuters stylized themslaves in order to draw attention of their female counterparts. Some of them were waiting for their respective boyfrineds at the station.
That is not enough. I had put on my mobile FM on my ears and was listening to Rabindrasangeet since morning. So, it to felt to me that all other individuals around me were acting mimatically. As I could not listen to what is happening around, the images around me gave me a feel of a changing Bengali class. They are slowly getting modernized, in a way the sun slowly creeps up to the top at the noon.
But, there were several other visuals also. The street children, their distressed mothers fighting to cook up a discent lunch with limited inputs. They sat by the rail tracks chopping off the vegetables. The amount reflected a rise in the price of daily commodities in India. There has been a growth in price of daily commodity by 18 percents approx, incrementing nearly 3 percent from the last weeks price index. The humans, under the poverty level, are having to fight for a good meal for once a daytime.
I sighed. At least, I had a good breakfast in the Sunday morning. Three pairs of toast with two boiled eggs, and a mug full of hot tea. Wonderful. As I am a cancerian, I am quite interested about food. I eat heavily.
