The television allows leisure companies to advertise, for example David Lloyd advertises their company and the more people see the adverts, the more they would want to go and join the club and look if it’s worth it.

There are so many channels available to watch nowadays. You can watch a documentary on nearly anything you can think about and people who are interested in motorbikes will spend their leisure time watching a documentary or show on motorbikes or if you have a student studying design technology, they would be able to watch a television program on designing buildings or shows that show you how things are made.

Radio

You can listen to the radio nearly anywhere, even on your phone. Sport is now being broadcasted on the radio. You will be able to listen to the commentary for important football matches or tennis matches. When they do the news, they even have a section on sport to get you up to date. Companies can even put their commercials on the radio in between shows. In radio shows, a company will pay them to advertise their company and products. The company can pay for them to do this throughout the show or just in the a few times. The person hosting the show will also advertise stuff without being paid, for example if the host went to a new leisure park they could recommend it or they could just have a convocation about a new leisure centre that recently opened near by.

The Press, newspapers, magazines and books

With the press you get the previous days news in the newspapers. This can be local newspapers or worldwide papers. They can include news about businesses to crimes and nearly all newspapers include a sport section.

The press can also be magazines. Most press magazines will be about celebrities and the latest ‘gossip’. Most of these magazines are aimed towards females as women are more interested in celebrities and gossip.

You can also get magazines on different topics like mountain biking or fishing. Many people will by these magazines if they do fishing as a hobby. You can probably buy a magazine on nearly any hobby you do.

You can get books that are written buy sportsman and woman that will interest people who see them as a role model. For example, a footballer wrote a book about football and how he achieved has level and many people from young to old bought the book because one they like the person who wrote it and two because they enjoy playing and learning about the sport. The host of a famous car show wrote a book that includes small funny stories that he witnesses. A lot more people bought this book because it was funny so people with a good sense of humour got it, people who are interested in cars got it and then finally the people who like the author bought it.
