This article looks at the life of Lenny Henry and why he inspires me.
Lenny Henry- The Inspiration
I think inspiration means to look up to someone as a role model; someone I would like to be like. This is how I feel about Lenny Henry.
I was always fascinated and inspired by Lenny Henry when I saw him on TV. He is very talented, funny, kind hearted and dedicated a lot of his time to charity work. He is a role model for many young people and in my opinion for many young black children like myself.
Lenworth George Henry was born on August 29, 1958 in Dudley, West Midlands in England to a family of Jamaican immigrants. He made his TV debut on a talent show called ‘New Faces’ in 1975 at the age of 16. He won and went on to things such as ‘The Fosters’ 1976 and ‘Tiswas’ 1984.
Lenny Henry has been married to fellow comedian and actress, Dawn French since 1984 and they have an adopted daughter called Bille. Since becoming a family man Lenny has not been seen on TV regularly in recent years but he is always a pleasure to watch when he does the annual charity event, ‘comic relief.’ He was appointed a cbe in 1999, which has certainly motivated me to do well and make my family proud of me.
Lenny Henry is a man many people should look up to and see as a role model. He is someone who never gives up. Children of my generation often say that they are bored or lack motivation but I think if we all had a ‘lenny Henry’ in our lives it would make us better children who grow up to be better adults. I look forward to seeing or reading more about him doing many more inspirational things.
