But does life really matter in the end? I mean we live this whole life. Some people live
80 years, 90, 100 years and do they really accomplish anything. Sure maybe they made some important phone calls to make some corporate boss some extra money and they produced a family of a couple of kids, but what is the benefit to this world by their existence? Did they really make this world any better of a place because really don’t people destroy more than they create? He created two more people to help destroy humanity. Do you think anyone will remember that man 100 years after his death? What do you know about your great grandparents? Maybe you know where they are from in this world, but not many of us can mention a single thing that person did in their lifetime. So really all that is memorable in an average life is where you were from and who you produced. Add another 50 years and you are completely gone and lost from this world for sure. All that will remain of you is that 5’x10’ section of this world you had reserved for yourself and decided to place a rock with your name on it. If anything now your just a waste of space to humanity and wouldn’t it be just as meaningful to write your name on a bunch of rocks? If anything to me it would be more meaningful because then you have multiple chances of someone seeing those rocks. Have you ever seen a bunch of names carved into something and there is one with a short message next to it and you find that it sticks out to you and you read it? Maybe that one carving in a rock is more valuable than your whole life because one person saw that carving on the table and thought about you for a moment of time, where your tombstone is probably just walked past unnoticed by the tear filled eyes of the family members that went that one day of the year to pay their respects. Now imagine you have just climbed a mountain and your at the top looking at that beautiful view. You stare off into the other mountains and valleys in the distance and you think about how tired you are and how strenuous that hike was on your body, but you were one of the strong ones that managed to fight through the pain and make it to the top. That’s not an accomplishment the entire world can do, so while you stare at the view from the top you take your picture, so you can show off how beautiful your vacation and hike really were. Once your picture is down you pack up your lunch and you head back down. All that remains of your accomplishment is that picture from the top. The people that see that picture don’t know the pain you were in. They don’t know the mental strength it took to convince yourself to keep going as your legs felt like they were going to give out on you. All they see is a beautiful picture and they look at it to please you, but really they don’t care about it. It looks just like every other picture from the top of a mountain. Wow how cool. Look at all those trees in the distance. Here you go have your piece of paper back I got to get back to my own work. So now you have shown all these people this picture of you and they all have definitely forgot about it at this point unless it’s a picture of someone jumping over that cliff and you set it aside to even be completely forgotten forever even from yourself. Now this event in your life is gone. Pretty much it never happened anymore because it’s not something you will think about unless you happen to be in a conversation with someone else about their mountain climbing adventure and you won’t get your story out to them because they don’t want to hear your tale. They are way too excited to tell their’s. You stare at that picture they hand you of them at the top of the mountain and you say, how cool, beautiful, and you hand it back wondering to yourself when this guy will stop talking. It’s getting obnoxious how he keeps going on and he won’t even let me get a word out. Finally he’s done and you walk away and block that boring memory completely out of your mind. Now his photograph and story as well are gone forever. Now instead of taking a photograph what could you do to be remembered. Think about a grave stone. Your name, your birthday, and a short sentence about yourself. That seems to be very meaningful to this world, so why don’t you carve that into a rock yourself when you are on top of a mountain. Carve your name, when you climbed the mountain and a meaningful sentence to you. A sentence about anything that people will look at years down the line and think about because really that one sentence may be all you are ever remembered for, because once you are gone and your family is gone no one will ever think about you again. You will forever be gone from this world, but maybe for a short moment of time a complete stranger may stare at a beautiful sentence you wrote at the top of a mountain when your endorphins couldn’t possibly rush to their brain any quicker. One sentence, but when you are that happy that one sentence may forever be remembered again with that happiness and forever may bring joy to that individual. When they are having a bad day they may think of your sentence and it will help bring a little comfort to their life. It’s a far stretch, but if you accomplish a lot with your life and everywhere make your tag, maybe this isn’t as far of a stretch as you think it may be. This could be how you bring meaning to what may otherwise seem as a pointless life.
