What I have discovered in life.

I discovered life in the order God created it; light and dark, earth and sea, the heavens and hell, the birds and the trees, love and hate, life, loss and lust. I have discovered how much there is to be discovered, and in some ways I have discovered how to. When I was a child I discovered my name and learned the names of those close to me. As I grew up I discovered the names of more, famous, influential and sometimes ordinary people and learned about new ideas. I began to count on my fingers and then in my head. I learned how to communicate. I learned empathy in terms of apathy, and I learned I was fortunate. I went to other countries and discovered how fortunate I actually was. As I accumulated knowledge and broadened my mind to new ideas, I discovered trends. I discovered interconnectedness; interconnectedness in scientific fields of study, in math, music and athletics, and in society as a whole. I learned about society, unspoken rules, the highs and lows of pop culture, and I discovered opinion. I began to form my own ideas and theories, and questioned what I was told. I began to see my world through a spyglass of my own design. Then, I discovered how small my lens was and went out to discover for myself what I had seen from a distance. By and by I discovered I was growing. I read books and discovered I was not alone. I have discovered that I can live alone, but would never want to. I have discovered that others can too, they just don’t know it. I discovered that there is math behind everything, but that the human element can never be derived or canceled out. I have seen the faces of an older generation, and I have discovered that hope brings happiness and death is only feared by the hopeless. I know that there is evil in the world, but I have discovered that it still does not define it. I have discovered beauty and music, and that it is these things that we live for. I have discovered that money does not buy happiness, but I have not become blind to the merit of wealth. Literature has widened my eyes, and my foresight has become more in line with the adult I have discovered myself to be transforming into. I have discovered hard work as my father taught me, leisure as my family and friends have shared with me, and vision as education and experience has bestowed upon me. I have discovered excitement for the future, and anxiety for the change of the present. I dream of what I might make of myself, but I am ready to grab hold of the hand of opportunity. I am ready for new scenery and greener pastures and new beginnings.
