Chapter 7.

During this section the reader learns that the Great Depression is going on, and after that, World War II, which devastated much of Europe. Using his science, Linus decided to help the U.S.A in the war. He developed a fuel which was able to launch rockets off much faster than previous propellants. With the help of a friend, he also was able to create a synthetic blood plasma for the wounded on the battlefield. For the contribution, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit, the highest honor that the president can bestow on anybody in the United States. The war ended with the dropping of the atom bombs on Japan.
